Quilt Preparation:
- Quilt top should be trimmed down to final finished size. I will not cut or trim a quilt top.
- Check to be sure all seams are secure. Remove all excess thread as well as pins and other embellishments.
- The quilt should lay flat. Measure your quilt at the top, center and bottom. These measurements should all be the same. If not there is a possibility that your finished quilt will not be square or have fullness eased in which could cause puckering or tucks in your quilt.
- Please check to see that your quilt seam lines are pressed in the desired direction. I do a final press on each quilt before loading it, but will not change the direction of seams.
- Leave selvage on outside edges, if possible.
- ******A helpful hint for piecing your back together is to sew your fabrics together with the selvage attached and a 1 1/2″ seam allowance. After your back is pieced, trim off your selvage so that your seam is down to 1/2″ and press the seam open. Leave the selvage on the outside edges.
- If using Minky or Cuddle fabric for your backing, DO NOT TRIM OFF THE SELVAGE!!!!!! Trimming the selvage makes the edges curl which could result in a less than desireable outcome.
- Backing and batting must be at least 4 to 6 inches larger than the quilt on each side.
- Backing seams should be pressed open.
Do not baste quilt together. Quilt top, backing and batting must be brought in as separate layers.
